Hotel Icon, Hong Kong

Hotel Icon is one of my favorite designed hotels in Asia -- I have used this hotel design as a precedent for past projects and last winter I was so excited to see the hotel in person while on holiday in Hong Kong.  The 470,000 square meter hotel completed in March 2011 was designed by celebrated architects Terence Conran, Rocco Yim, and William Lim.  Hotel Icon's design concept had to combine ecology,  education,  art,  and design.  A major project focus was the incorporation of art installations and designs by students and locally-based artists.  One of the most breathtaking elements I saw was the enormous interior living green wall used in the lobby and restaurant to absorb carbon.  Be inspired.....

All That Is Gold...

It seems any project that Kelly Wearstler touches turns to gold and my all time favorite designer has done it again with the interior design of this 11,000 square-foot home on Mercer Island, Washington. Wearstler's latest project, pictured above, takes glitz and glamour to a whole new inspired level.  From the purple Venetian glass chandeliers to the brass island in the kitchen, Wearstler, is a true master at collaborating exquisite elements.

Autumn Light

Colo{ur} My Door!

Turn your boring front door (+garage doors) into a bright and welcoming entrance to your home just by applying a new color paint!  But don't stop there....replacing old hardware (house numbers, lock-set, mailbox, knocker) is a great way to really make the doors look brand new!  Do make sure all the new hardware is the same finish i.e. all hardware is brushed nickle.  If your door is flat you can also add trim painted and placed in an unique design.  By redesigning your front door your homes curb appeal shoots up with very little effort!

Happy Autumn!

The first day of Autumn is here and I wanted to share a trend that is really big for this season --- STUDS!  I started to wear the stud trend when I got my Alexander Wang Rocco Satchel (seen above) last winter.  Lately studs are popping up everywhere from bags to shoes to jackets and even sweaters.  I do really like this trend but in small doses.  Try not to go over board with all your studded pieces in one outfit.

 Coulo(ur) my life with the colour of decor!

My new favorite color trend is combining neutrals such as cool blues and grays with pops of vibrant varieties of yellow and violet!  This trend can be accomplished using any complimentary or triadic colors, not just gray, violet and yellow.  For help with creating the perfect color scheme this site is extremely useful: http://colorschemedesigner.com/
